Hey everyone. My name is Jon Hodl and the primary goal of this project is to provide the bitcoin space with relevant and actionable case studies on how to make money with bitcoin. In order to keep this project alive and with the absolute least amount of ads, I use affiliate links to earn referral commissions. Buy Bitcoin
Buying Bitcoin is probably the most common way of getting your first bitcoin. There are a number of platforms that sell bitcoin around the world but the ones listed below are some of my favorite. I have either used these services myself or am in the process of collecting data to create a study.
Swan Bitcoin
Swan Bitcoin (Affiliate) is a platform that offers their users the ability to buy bitcoin on a recurring schedule. With Swan you can buy bitcoin every day, week, month, or even bi-monthly.

I think I also receive $10 after a new user signs up but I earn a percentage of the fees that you pay for 3 years which helps bring me one step closer to working full time on bitcoin projects.
Cash App
The Cash App (Affiliate) is a simple app for sending and receiving money, buying things with their debit card, buying stocks, and buying bitcoin. It’s a great tool for being able to spend money anywhere that Visa is accepted in the United States.
The Cash App debit card also has a nice feature called “boosts” where you can sometimes earn sats back on purchases at select locations such as restaurants and coffee shops.

Strike
Strike is a service for sending bitcoin both on-chain and on the lightning network without having to actually own any bitcoin or manage lightning network payment channels. Strike only requires you to attach a bank account or debit card to make fiat deposits to your Strike account. When you want to send bitcoin either on-chain or the lightning network, you send as you would with any other bitcoin/lightning wallet and Strike sends to the destination and debits your fiat balance. It’s a truly remarkable business model.
Earn Bitcoin Rewards
Earning bitcoin is also a great best way to get your very first fraction of a bitcoin. Here are some of the services that I use regularly and am doing studies on.
Some of these are passive earnings while others may be more about using a “Bitcoin bank” to generate interest on your BTC.
The Fold App
The Fold App (Affiliate) is a gift card vendor that offers sats back on purchasing gift cards as well as a daily chance to win free sats. They also have a debit card that offers additional savings on gift card purchases as well as the opportunity to win additional sats every time you use the debit card to make a purchase.

If you have a bitcoin-focused website, you might be able to earn bitcoin with ads by using some of the bitcoin advertising services available.

A-Ads (Affiliate) is service that enables anyone with a website to be able to earn bitcoin with simple embeddable banner ads. If you want to advertise your product or website with bitcoin, they offer all sorts of advertising options without the need to create an account.

If you are a social media content producer and want to simply earn bitcoin tips or donations for your YouTube videos or are looking for an alternative to services like Patreon, maybe a bitcoin tipping service is the best option for you. Tippin.Me is a tool that enables anyone with a Twitter account to receive tips and donations via the Bitcoin lightning network. You can either use a unique link or an embeddable button to begin earning small amounts of bitcoin in as little time as possible.

HODLing Bitcoin is the best way to preserve your savings over a long period of time. Here are the tools that I use to hold my own stack.
